Blue Titmouse

Physical Traits: These pretty little birds are pale blue with its margin white. The female resembles the male, but is a little smaller, and her colors not so bright.

Habitat: In the spring, they are usually seen in pairs, and by the end of summer can be seen traveling in small flocks. Their nests are usually very well-constructed, though can differ drastically in form. If they nest in the holes of trees and walls, their nests consist of only a few feathers. However, if the opening is larger and more moist, moss and other plants can serve as the building blocks for their nests.

Recommended Feeder: Lyric Chickadee Feeder

Feeder Tips: The titmouse are sure-footed and need no perches. We recommend the Lyric Chickadee Feeder which is a rough-wood feeder with openings large enough for the titmouse's beak. It allows the bird to cling to the rough cedar wood while maneuvering seed from the holes. Hang your Chickadee feeder in or near a tree, and always use a squirrel guard, because sunflower seeds and nuts are squirrels' favorites, too.

States and Regions Found: They have delighted people all over the world for centuries. Originally from Japan, Blue Titmice now stretch from Europe to Southern Canada to the northeast United States.
