Rose-breasted Grosbeak
Physical Traits: This beautiful bird is a summer resident only. Its scarlet-breast is magnificent. The female is brown and white with a distinct white eyebrow. Habitat: If you are fortunate to see this bird, you'll most likely find it in open woodlands and brushy clearings. It will occasionally visit a feeder for sunflower seed. Its nest is a loose cup of plant fibers and twigs in a tree. Recommended Feeder: Lyric Cardinal Feeder Feeder Tips: Grosbeaks prefer feeding on platforms. We recommend Lyric's Cardinal Feeder. It is covered by a cedar-shingled roof providing protection to the food and refuge to the birds. Ground feeding can be risky for the bird, so place the feeder in an open area where he can easily detect danger. Provide cover with shrubs and trees for the birds to fly to safely. States and Regions Found: Red-breasted Grosbeaks are primarily east of the Rockies, in southern Canada and through Central America.
